  • Beattie makes semi finals of NZMT 2 & Andrew Allan finishes 5th

    In the men's, top seed Dan King-Turner received a walkover win in his semi after opponent Mark Nielsen had to withdraw with a calf injury. He would meet fourth seed Wesley Whitehouse in the Men’s final, after Whitehouse had a 6-1 6-0 win over unseeded Adam Lee in their semi final.

    Kairangi Vano (below), the top seed in the womens draw, was pushed to three sets in her semi-final by top junior and fifth seed Leela Beattie. The top seed won the match 7-6(5) 2-6 7-6(2). She was joined in the final by second seed Franziska Etzel, after the German beat Pavlina Nola in straight sets 7-6(2) 6-2.

    King-Turner won the first set in the final without a single break of serve and didn’t look back. King-Turner beating Whitehouse and taking the men’s title with a 6-4 6-0 win.

    The women’s final played out in similar fashion, with Vano taking the first set in a tiebreak, and running away with the second set, the match and the title 7-6(4) 6-1.
    Royal Oak’s, Andrew Allan, was successful in taking out the 5th position after beating TNZ’s junior player of the year, Jordan Kelly Houston 6/3 6/1 and then dispatching Australian player Chris Letcher 6/3 6/4. Allan also finished 5th in the first NZMT in Waikato last week.

    Another Title for Jaden Grinter - ITF Junior Tournament Winner!

    The New South Wales ITF 4 Grade is over – finals were played on the weekend.

    At the end, spectators could see two Kiwis winning and two runner-ups in their draws.

    Royal Oak’s Jaden Grinter(3) faced Adam Lee(2) in the boy’s final. After two sets, victory went again to Jaden. He has now won the last two final encounters against Adam over the last weeks in ITF Junior Tournaments.
    The score was 7-5, 6-3 to Jaden.

    In the girl’s draw, Kate Parker (10th seed, above) played against fourth-seeded Jennifer Nguyen in the final.

    After a hard-fought match, Kate outplayed Jennifer in three sets with the score of 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.

    In the doubles, Kiwis got runner-ups in the boys' as well as in the girls' competition.

    David Clifford and Jamie Yates lost unfortunately in their final to Aaron Clissold and Blake Smith with a 3-6, 3-6 score.

    Louise Oxnevad and her doubles partner Celina Goetti (8) exited the tournament against the top seeds in the final. Jennifer Nguyen and Sandy Vo won the match with a (0)6-7, 6-3, (3-10) score

  • BEATTIE WINS ITF DOUBLES FINAL IN AUCKLAND

    Royal Oak’s number 1 player, Leela Beattie, has taken out the ITF junior doubles title with Mission Bay’s Imogen Golder.

    They defeated Australians Hoynaski/Myers 6/4 7/5.

    Bettie also made the ¼ finals of the Auckland and Waikato ITF singles draw and this should see her current Itf junior world ranking of 319, jump up when the updated list is released on Monday.

  • GRINTER WINS ITF JUNIOR SINGLES TITLE

    Royal Oak’s Jaden Grinter has won the boys singles title at the New Zealand 18 & Under Indoor Championships today defeating Auckland’s Adam Lee 7-5 6-3 while Australian Abbie Myers has taken out the girls singles title with a 6-1 6-3 win over Athena Nathalia also from Australia.

    Jaden has had a successful two weeks as he was runner up in last weeks Waikato Itf singles draw as well. Jaden is currently ranked 300 but this weeks win will see him jump up the ranking list even further. Next week he heads to Gosford, north of Sydney, for two more ITF’s. He will then head home to play one more caro Bowl match on Nov 13th before he departs on a 4 week tour of the USA which will hopefully include playing in the Junior Orange Bowl, the unofficial world junior championships. The Royal Oak club wishes him all the best for his upcoming events.
