As Christmas approaches, there is a suddenrealisation about how quick the year has gone.
Looking back over the last 12 months it has beenan excellent year for the club in a number of ways. The club facilities have been improved with tilingof the shower area in the gents, painting of thecorridors around the club, new gym equipmentand currently being finished off, the painting of thesquash courts.
These improvements to the club facilities over the last year would not have happened without the
support of the trusts. The trusts have not only supported the club in improving the facilities but also provided funding for junior coaching and equipment.
Social events at the club have really taken off this year with the quiz night, auctions, wine tasting, the Golf Classic and of course the Christmas Ball (see photos on the web site.)
The club in general has been successful over thelast year winning Club of the Year and Club
Manager of the year at the Squash Auckland awards evening. This is an excellent achievement
for the club and shows that we are moving in the right direction.
On the court there has been much success, with the ladies Caro Bowl team winning the group stages and having the home final against Parnell.Once again it was not to be the clubs year, but it was a fantastic effort by the girls, with great support on the night, which made it an enjoyable
night for all. Fingers crossed next year will be Royal Oaks turn to win this prestigious trophy.
Squash Interclub teams have had an excellent year, with new teams being entered into the Womens andMens F. The club won 12 pennants throughout the year. Congratulations to all of you that won your division and to all that took part in interclub.
The club would like to thank the squash and tennis committees for all their hard work over the last year, a special thank you to Annamarie Wood who helped organise all the squash tournaments and theChristmas Ball, which was very successful
The funds raised from the Christmas Ball and the bonus draws are being put towards buying new furniture for the bar area. Currently the club has raised $2920 toward a target of $10,000.00. There will be a fundraiser at Bunnings Warehouse in Carr Road at the weekend and hopefully this should push our fundraising towards the $5,000 mark.
I would like to thank the bar volunteers for all their efforts over the last year. Being a volunteer is
sometimes a thankless task, but without your support my job would be a lot harder.
Finally, to you the members of the club, a special thank you for supporting the club both on and off thecourts. It is your efforts and support that has created a fantastic atmosphere within the club and long may it continue.
To you all, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a healthy 2010
Brett Dennis
Club Manager
