  • Kevan Wilton

It is sad news that Life Member and 10 x squash club (1968 – 1977) champion Kevan Wilton passed away on 1st Feb after a long illness. Kevan was a highly respected member of the club whose achievement of being club champ for 10 years in a row will not be forgotten. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to the family who laid Kevan to rest in a moving service on Friday 5th Feb.

  • Bar Volunteer Wanted

We currently have a few spaces on the club’s volunteer bar roster and are looking for members to help out once a month for a few hours. If you are interested please contact Brett in the club office.

  • Entertainment Books

The club is now taking orders for the 2010 Auckland Entertainment books. • Tennis News

Royal Oak has Aussie Open Champion!

Andrew Allan and Brittany Teei were representing New Zealand at the KIA Amateur Australian Open being held at Melbourne Park in conjunction with the Australian Open.
Allan played some outstanding tennis to make the singles final which was played on the Rod Laver Arena before finals day on Sunday. Allan came from a break down to take the match to a deciding tiebreaker but eventually lost 7/9.

Allan then combined well with Teei as they took out the mixed doubles title, also played on the Rod Laver Arena. Teei finished a respectable 6th in the ladies singles.
As a result of their great form New Zealand won the overall teams title. This is a great result for the Kiwis and we are proud to have Andrew as a long standing member of our Club and Men’s Caro Bowl team. You will often see him down at the Club training or hitting with Royal Oak’s up and coming players. Andrew is a great role model for the junior members of the Club and is one of the most liked and respected players in Tennis New Zealand.
