Squash at "The Oak"

The Royal Oak Racquets Club is intertwined with the history of squash in Auckland over the last 100+ years. The club has seen players of such calibre as Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist Glen Wilson, World Doubles Champion Amanda Landers-Murphy and many highly national ranked players.

"The Oak" is not limited just to high performance players but is also very proud to have a very strong base of club players, we welcome and encourage members of all playing levels and abilities to join our club and be part of our community. The Royal Oak Racquets Club offers a number of squash options to members wanting to play competitively or socially.

Interclub

Interclub is an opportunity for graded players to have weekly competitive matches against players from clubs. The teams are divided into men's and woman's competitions, and divisions are made depending on the team's point average from the grading list. 

Interclub is a great way to get a regular game and meet fellow players from around Auckland. You must be on the grading list to be eligible to play. Please click the photo for info on the current interclub competition.

Thursday Club Night

Club night is on Thursdays and a great night for all members to come down and have a hit. Starting at 6:30pm for lower-skill levels, and the more advanced players starting at 7pm and end at 8:30pm. Three-Quarter Court (or King of the Court) is played on court 1, and players are matched with similar level players for games. 

It's an awesome night to meet other players, and make sure you head up to the bar afterwards for a few drinks and something to eat.

Friday Night Squash League

Friday Night Squash League is open to all club members and gives you an organised match each week. We use the online website Teamer, and each week on Monday you will receive a text or email request to play on the Friday night. You just need to accept or decline the registration depending on your availability. Accept by midday Thursday to be entered into the draw, which will be emailed out Thursday afternoon where you'll be scheduled a match after 6pm Friday night. When you register initially you can specify if you want to play after a certain time. 

Matches are played best of 5 to 15 or 11 depending on grade. You'll be matched up with players of a similar ability as much as possible. It's just another great way to meet club members, get some matchplay experience, and have a great time at The Oak!

Junior Club Night

Come along on Friday night during terms 2 and 3 for lots of fun and squash coaching. 

4-5pm (10yrs & under) and 5-6pm (11yrs+)

Superchamps

The biggest competition on the Squash calendar.

The District and National Superchamps events are played to identify the strongest club in the country for each grade. Teams are composed of five players per club that are in the same grade (B, C, D, E and F/J for both men and women). Entries will also be taken for separate B2 & C2 divisions, which will only be played as a regional competition (no National competitions).  At the District Superchamps clubs in a single district play off to find the district champion in each grade. The district champion is then eligible to travel to the National Superchamps finals to play off for the national title. Teams contest ties in round-robin and/or knockout format, with the team that wins three or more matches declared the winner.
